This is an updated version of an asset that was created for King of the Drills during university, with the updated model being created post-graduation.

The comparison between new and old models is a compelling showcase of how my skills have improved over the two years between them.

Initially the drill gun was concepted as a household power drill mixed with an uzi, though this was strengthened significantly in the new version. Whilst creating the new model I was essentially compiling the knowledge that I had gained from previous attempts in relation to the high and low poly steps and texture baking. This process was very smooth on this model and the results were pleasing.

The design was also updated to make a little more sense and be more visually pleasing. Things like the laser pen actually being attached rather than ambiguously floating and more surface detail to sell the drill concept.
